Joe Gomez of Liverpool looks dejected as he leaves the pitch with a injury during the Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round match between Plymouth Argyle and Liverpool at Home Park on February 09, 2025 in Plymouth, England.

On the back of Wednesday night's 2-2 draw with Everton in the final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park, the Reds welcome relegation-threatened Wolves without Joe Gomez, Tyler Morton or Curtis Jones.

And with Arsenal in action a day earlier at struggling Leicester City, Arne Slot will know by the time Wolves visit whether or not his title-chasing side can extend the seven-point advantage they are currently in possession of at the top of the Premier League.

Gomez suffered a setback just 10 minutes into his Liverpool return last week and was forced off in the early stages of the 1-0 loss to Plymouth Argyle in the fourth round of the FA Cup at Home Park.

The versatile defender picked up a hamstring problem in the 5-0 win at West Ham United in late December and could be sidelined for another extended period after a recurrence of the issue that left him on the shelf for six weeks prior to his short-lived comeback in Devon.

Slot initially believed Gomez hadn't suffered a tear but the centre-half subsequently underwent scans and Liverpool's fears have been realised with the former Charlton Athletic youngster now being sent for further tests on the injury to determine whether surgery is required to rectify the problem.

Meanwhile Morton will be unable to deputise in the squad for fellow midfielder Jones as he continues to recover from a shoulder injury that is expected to keep him out for a number of months.

Speaking last week, Slot said: "Tyler Morton is out with an injury for a while, so that means he was maybe our sixth midfielder and James is taking that position now for the upcoming weeks.

So it's a combination of both, James McConnell doing really well and the injury to Morton.

It's his shoulder, a shoulder injury.

The city-centre-born midfielder scuffled with Abdoulaye Doucoure after a 98th-minute equaliser from James Tarkowski and were both shown second yellow cards by match official Michael Oliver.

The Premier League wrote: "Abdoulaye Doucoure and Curtis Jones were both sent off for two bookable offences in Everton's 2-2 draw with Liverpool.

The pair will each serve one-match bans.

"Doucoure will sit out Everton's upcoming Premier League encounter with Crystal Palace, while Jones is suspended for the first of Liverpool's Matchweek 25 games, versus Wolverhampton Wanderers."

Slot will update if there are any further fitness concerns when he speaks to the media on Friday morning, although Liverpool will host Wolves with a virtual clean bill of health this weekend should the rest of the squad have come through derby day without any further ailments.
