Luis Diaz has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona, but Manchester United may have inadvertently handed Liverpool a huge boost and blocked a potential exit for the Colombian winger.
Diaz has been an excellent addition to Liverpool since signing for $47.5 million back in January 2022, when the Reds hijacked Tottenham's approach for the then-Porto star.
admitted that his son is a loyal Barcelona fan and it's always been his dream to play for the Spanish team, handing Liverpool a similar dilemma to the one they faced with Philippe Coutinho.
But Barcelona has hired former Bayern Munich and Germany coach Hansi Flick, who is an admirer of current United winger Jadon Sancho.
Flick was impressed by Sancho when coaching in Germany, back when the English winger was playing for Borussia Dortmund.
Flick now wants to bring him to Barcelona.

That's according to Sport (via Manchester Evening News), who claim that Barcelona was offered the chance to sign Sancho for $64 million.
The Spanish team is still struggling with financial issues and doesn't want to risk another transfer disaster, but Flick is keen to sign Sancho on loan this summer.
Should United, Barcelona, and Sancho all agree then it could put an end to the interest in Diaz, at least for another season.
Sancho has fallen out with Erik ten Hag, and with United looking to offer the head coach an extended contract, the winger may have to leave.
Diaz is yet to speak about any transfer speculation and has not responded to his father's comments, one that's upset Liverpool fans.
