Liverpool are reportedly considering a move for Benfica left-back Alvaro Fernandez during the January transfer window.
The Reds currently having Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas in their ranks in this part of the pitch, in addition to emerging talents such as Luke Chambers and Owen Beck.
?
Robertson has long been Liverpool's No.1 option, though turned 30 years of age in March and could soon be displaced as the go-to option for Arne Slot.
A latest report from Spanish outlet AS has suggested the Reds have joined Barcelona and Real Madrid in plotting a move for the defender, who was sold by Manchester United during the summer.
The article states it is Liverpool are "stalking" the player and are the club "who have shown the greatest interest" to date, however it remains to be seen if this results in a bid being made.

AS have claimed Liverpool are "in search of a long-tern" Robertson replacement and are impressed by the fact Fernandez has previous experience of competing in England, having spent a season on loan at Preston North End in 2022/23.
Liverpool last dealt with Benfica during the summer of 2022 when purchasing Darwin Nunez and would need to be smart negotiators once again due to the fact the 21-year-old is under contract until 2029.
The Portuguese giants are said to have "strength" over the player's future as his release clause is not currently common knowledge.
Robertson was linked with a move to Bayern Munich prior to the current campaign commencing, though distanced himself from such reports at the start of June.
?
"No, I’ve not spoken to him yet," said the Scot.
