The January transfer window is well underway and a big story involving Liverpool hit the mainstream media last week.
The Reds maintain an interest in signing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who has thus far been unwilling to extend his contract that runs out in the summer of 2026.
Liverpool have shown over the years that they aren’t against signing players in January, but PSG are leading the race to sign Kvaratskhelia after active negotiations with Napoli.
And now, David Lynch claims Arne Slot’s side are still in with a chance of signing the Georgian international, who looks certain to get a big move in the coming weeks.

Kvataskhelia’s exploits need no introduction and Liverpool are keeping a watchful eye on his situation as they view him as a market opportunity due to his situation with Napoli.
However, PSG have begun negotiations to sign him, with Fabrizio Romano confirming that all parties involved are close to reaching a full agreement.
He wrote on X: “Paris Saint-Germain have reached a verbal agreement in principle with Napoli for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

“Deal in place for €70m plus add-ons after story revealed here last week.
Final approval from the owners and then… here we go.”
Liverpool are yet to make their move to sign the 23-year-old and are running out of time to do so as PSG have stolen a march on him.
But Lynch feels the Reds could still make a play for Kvaratskhelia as he’s a player the Anfield hierarchy have admired for ages.
“He’s a player that they’ve liked for a long time,” said Lynch on Anfield Index’s YouTube channel.
“You know there’s a possibility for movement in and around the attack over the next couple of windows therefore spaces may open up.”
“There’s definite interest in the player, that has been for a while but in terms of whether that becomes anything, whether Liverpool want to beat PSG, to whether the player is kind of interested in that, we will have to see.
“PSG are pushing but until that deal is kind of done and absolutely sealed I wouldn’t say either way whether Liverpool are going to go back in for him because I still think there’s a possibility.”
Jurgen Klopp described Kvaratskhelia as a ‘really quick’ player when the Reds came up against Napoli in the UEFA Champions League in 2022.
The answer is yes and no.
Primarily a left-winger, Kvaratskhelia is hardly a necessity for Liverpool as the likes of Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota are all capable of playing in that position, while Federico Chiesa and Darwin Nunez can also be used there if needed.
However, players like him don’t become available quite often in the transfer market and Liverpool have admired him for a while, so they might look to pounce if the conditions of the deal are favourable.
Lynch suggested earlier that Liverpool could follow the Diaz example to sign Kvaratskhelia as the Reds waited for Tottenham to make a move for the Colombian before swooping in and snapping him up.
However, even if that were to be the case, they are running out of time as PSG are very close to reaching a full agreement with all parties involved.
Liverpool are not completely out of the running to sign Kvaratskhelia, but they haven’t even made a play for him yet, so a deal looks unlikely at this stage of the transfer window.
