Liverpool FC have confirmed another player for the upcoming Legends Charity match.
The Liverpool FC Legends are set to face Chelsea on Saturday, March 22, in a 3pm GMT kick-off.
Over the past couple of years, the LFC Foundation has been collaborating with former Liverpool players and foundations from other clubs to organize exhibition fixtures aimed at raising money.
These matches have helped the Foundation support thousands of people, with previous events generating significant community impact through health benefits and local economic contributions.
From the eight previous Legends matches held at Anfield, the LFC Foundation has raised over £7.5 million, enabling the foundation to expand its reach and increase the number of people it helps.
Last season alone, the LFC Foundation supported 127,000 people through the funds raised from these charity games.
The Foundation has set an ambitious goal of expanding its reach to 500,000 individuals by 2030 and has thus far doubled its fundraising efforts to meet this target.
Squad for upcoming Legends game
The game features several past players and managers, with the likes of Steven Gerrard, Xabi Alonso, Fernando Torres, and Sir Kenny Daglish participating in previous instances.
The latest instalment will feature several legends and cult heroes.
Eleven players were previously confirmed, while the management team featuring several top club ambassadors was also announced.
“Sir Kenny will lead the team alongside fellow LFC ambassador Ian Rush and club legends John Aldridge and John Barnes for this year’s game, in association with Forever Reds,” Liverpool said.
The club have also confirmed that “Peter Crouch has joined the Liverpool FC Legends squad for the upcoming charity match at Anfield in aid of LFC Foundation.”
Crouch, who joined the club in 2006 is considered a cult hero at the club?
The often playful Englishman made 134 appearances and scored 42 goals for the club.
He will pull on a Liverpool shirt once again in support of the official charity.
The 44-year-old will team up with a host of former LFC favourites for the clash, including the likes of Sander Westerveld, Martin Skertel, Ragnar Klavan, Dirk Kuyt, Mark Gonzalez, Jay Spearing, Jerzy Dudek, Djimi Traore, Fabio Aurelio, Robbie Keane and Djibril Cisse.
