Darwin Nunez is reportedly heading for the exit door this summer and Liverpool have named their price.

The Uruguayan joined Liverpool as part of a club-record £85million deal from Benfica in 2022.

He was heralded as a future fans’ favourite, having boasted an impressive goals record while playing for the Portuguese outfit.

However, less than three years down the line, Nunez is already being tipped to leave the Anfield outfit.

It comes after a difficult start to life under new Liverpool boss Arne Slot, with Nunez having been in and out of the starting XI.

But the big question for Liverpool, should they decide to part ways with Nunez, is how much will they recuperate following their hefty £85m outlay?

According to TBR Football, Liverpool would want at least £60m to let Nunez leave in the summer transfer window.

It comes after Liverpool reportedly informed Nunez in January they’d be happy for him to move on - be that during the winter or summer window.

The outlet claims talks never progressed beyond an intermediary stage, but Liverpool’s hefty asking price could narrow Nunez’s escape route for the summer.

As a result, Saudi Arabia has been mooted as a potential option, but it would require the player to leave European football just as he’s about to reach his prime years.

Nunez is under contract at Liverpool until the summer of 2028, with the 25-year-old believed to have accepted his future lies away from the Premier League.

Slot has fielded questions about Nunez all season.

The most recent episode came after the ex-Benfica star missed a golden chance during Wednesday’s draw away to Villa Park.

Nunez took to social media to issue a statement where he vowed to never give up fighting in a Liverpool shirt.

Responding to this, Slot said: “I can accept every miss, especially from a player who scored two very important goals versus Brentford.

I would prefer him to score but the word 'chance' says it all.

“He was too disappointed after missing it and that is why he was a fraction short.

It's not about the chance, it is the 20 mins after it I want to talk to Darwin about.”

Liverpool face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
