For Liverpool this season, the injuries have been manageable despite some niggling concerns.
At the moment, Joe Gomez, Diogo Jota, and Curtis Jones are the only injury concerns.
The trio was not included in the travelling squad to face PSV this evening – although Gomez was spotted in the training session at the AXA on Tuesday afternoon.
But compared to this point last season, the injury list is not nearly as extensive.
In fact, Cody Gakpo made reference to this when discussing what is the biggest difference from last season compared to this campaign – with the Reds in a similar boat at this point in the season last year under Klopp:
“I think the biggest difference is at this point, I think, last season we had a lot of injuries,” Gakpo said in the pre-PSV press conference.
“What I just said as well in Dutch and obviously, I think Mo [Salah] was also away for the Africa Cup so that didn’t help as well, he injured himself over there I think.”
“And then we had, I think, Darwin [Nunez] was out with his hamstring, Dominik [Szoboszlai] was out, Curtis [Jones] was out, Trent [Alexander-Arnold] was out out as well, [Diogo] Jota was out as well, Ali [Alisson Becker] was out as well.”
“So we had some problems last year which didn’t help, this year, at this point almost everybody’s fit.”
And while the first team is enjoying a relatively clean bill of health, one on loan Liverpool man is not enjoying the same luxury.
Liverpool defender ruled out for 12 weeks
On-loan Liverpool man Calum Scanlon has suffered yet another injury setback in what has been a frustrating season for the youngster.
Joining Millwall at the start of the 2024/25 campaign, Scanlon was touted for a big season in the Championship.
After making just one 11-minute appearance off the bench in September, Scanlon suffered a stress fracture in his back
The back injury kept him sidelined for four months, during which he returned to Liverpool’s AXA Training Centre for treatment and worked with the U21s.
Scanlon made his comeback and scored within 60 seconds in a 2-2 draw with Cardiff on his second start back.
Under new manager Alex Neil, he was immediately given prominence, making three consecutive starts.
Unfortunately, in his third start back, Scanlon was forced off after just 17 minutes in Millwall’s match against Luton with a hamstring issue that “doesn’t look good”.

And now the extent of the damage has been revealed, with the Millwall manager saying via Southwark News:
“Calum’s got a grade three on his hamstring,” Neil said.
“Calum will be probably twelve weeks, so maybe a season-finisher for Calum.”
Due to these injuries, Scanlon has been limited to just four appearances totaling 169 minutes for Millwall this season.
It comes as a bitter blow for the youngster, who is obviously highly rated at Millwall and by parent club Liverpool.
