Although Liverpool has shown improvement compared to the previous season, the club’s current treatment room remains concerningly populated.
Trent Alexander-Arnold was forced off during Liverpool’s Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain and has been ruled out of the upcoming Premier League fixture against Fulham, as confirmed by manager Arne Slot.
Goalkeeper Alisson Becker is another key absentee, having departed international duty with Brazil early following a collision during their match against Colombia on March 21.
The shot-stopper missed the Merseyside derby win due to concussion protocols, with Slot explaining: “With Ali, it is simple: it is a concussion and you have to tick all the boxes.
The moment he doesn’t, we are following the protocol.”
Conor Bradley has returned to training following a muscle injury sustained against Aston Villa on February 19, though his availability for the upcoming fixtures remains uncertain.
Meanwhile, Joe Gomez is facing a lengthier spell on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on a hamstring injury, with Slot previously indicating the defender might only return “just before the end of the season.
And away from Liverpool, there has been some disappointing news.
Owen Beck has suffered a cruel setback with his loan club Blackburn Rovers, as a recurring hamstring injury has ended his promising Championship campaign prematurely.
The 22-year-old Welsh defender is now set to return to Merseyside for rehabilitation after being ruled out for approximately eight weeks.
Manager Ismael confirmed the bad news to RoversTV:
“We have bad news about Owen Beck, who will be out for the rest of the season with a hamstring injury, which will keep him out for at least eight weeks.”
Additionally, Blackburn Rovers manager Valerien Ismael has confirmed that teammate Hayden Carter will be sidelined while discussing how he will miss Owen’s intensity:
“You’re not only losing players, you’re losing the profiles?
You’re missing the energy and the intensity that Owen has and the physicality of Hayden, whilst both are versatile.
Beck’s injury nightmare unfolded last weekend when he made his return to action against Portsmouth following a seven-game absence due to a previous hamstring problem.
However, his comeback lasted just 13 minutes before he was forced off with what Blackburn manager Valerien Ismael has now confirmed is a recurrence of the same injury.
The timing is particularly unfortunate, as Beck had been impressing during his loan spell in the Championship.
Having joined Blackburn on a season-long deal last summer, the left-back had established himself as a first-team regular, featuring in 24 games and scoring once.
Prior to his initial injury in early February, Beck had started all but eight league matches for Rovers, with three of those absences coming from a suspension rather than fitness issues.
