Liverpool’s likely next opponent in the UEFA Champions League is becoming clearer after the latest results.
The Reds were the first team to secure passage into the knockout stage of the competition after winning the first seven games of the league phase.
Arne Slot’s side beat the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Leverkusen, RB Leipzig, AC Milan and Lille on their way to finishing top of the table.
As a result of their placement, Liverpool gained automatic entrance into the knockout stage.
However, their ranking meant that they would face one of the teams ranked between 15th and 18th position on the table.
Paris Saint-Germain, Benfica, AS Monaco and Brest finished in those positions and were drawn with each other.
PSG was drawn with fellow Ligue 1 team Brest, while AS Monaco was drawn with Benfica.
Benfica secured a 4-3 aggregate win over AS Monaco on Tuesday, meaning that Liverpool will face either them, PSG or Brest.
