Liverpool dropped a strong hint about their FA Cup squad for Sunday’s match against Plymouth after their U21s’ frustrating 1-1 draw at Southampton.

Barry Lewtas’ side traveled to the south coast knowing a win would push them above their opponents in Premier League 2.

However, Liverpool’s performance was weakened as they were without some key players.

Despite an early goal from Kieran Morrison, Liverpool couldn’t hold onto their lead, with Southampton equalizing in the dying seconds.

The Reds are now ninth in the table, with 13 matches played this season.

Liverpool drop hint on Plymouth team news

There were two glaring omissions from the U21s’ squad: Trey Nyoni and Rio Ngumoha.

Neither player featured in the match against Southampton, nor were they involved with the U18s on Saturday.

This absence immediately suggests that both players may be included in Liverpool’s senior squad for the upcoming FA Cup fourth-round clash against Plymouth.

Lewtas also commented on the game, describing the performance as “excellent” despite the late setback.

Lewtas said, “It was a really pleasing performance in many aspects.

First half, I thought we were excellent in all parts of the game, it was a really strong performance in and out of possession.”

“A lot of it for us was about getting ourselves back around where we want to be performance-wise in certain parts of the game and I think we did that.”

He remained positive despite the draw, showing confidence ahead of the next challenge, with the squad likely to be given more options by Nyoni and Ngumoha’s inclusion for the Plymouth trip.
