Liverpool supporters received a double dose of positive news this week as the club moved decisively to secure the futures of two cornerstone players while quietly locking down another.
The Anfield faithful erupted in celebration last Friday when Mohamed Salah signed a new two-year contract extension, ending months of speculation about the Egyptian superstar’s future.
The 32-year-old forward—who has scored 32 goals this season alone—will now remain at Liverpool until 2027, positioning him to potentially complete a decade of service at the club.
“I signed because I believe we can win more trophies together,” Salah declared, referencing Liverpool’s 11-point Premier League lead and impending 20th league title.
While official confirmation remains pending, multiple reports indicate Virgil van Dijk will soon follow Salah in committing his future to the Merseyside club.
The Liverpool captain hinted at progress during Sunday’s post-match interview after scoring the winner against West Ham, stating, “Maybe there’s some news this week… I know, but I don’t know.
He is expected to sign a two-year extension through 2027, maintaining the spine of a squad that’s conceded just 28 league goals this campaign.
And while Salah and Van Dijk dominated headlines, 23-year-old Czech goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros has penned fresh terms at the club according to Czech outlet inFotbal.cz
Contrary to widespread assumptions that his deal expired this summer, it seems that the club have secured the deal out of the public.
Jaros’ path to first-team contention has been forged through strategic loan spells:
Austrian Double with Sturm Graz (2024): His standout campaign saw 21 appearances as the club dethroned Red Bull Salzburg to claim the Bundesliga and Austrian Cup double.
The Austrian success earned him a senior Czech Republic call-up in March 2025, though he awaits his international debut.
With Caoimhin Kelleher likely departing for regular football and Giorgi Mamardashvili arriving from Valencia, the 23-year-old may have to be content with being the third-choice option.
Jaros made his Liverpool debut in October’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace and started November’s Carabao Cup victory against Brighton.
