Liverpool face competition for £40million striker

Ipswich striker Liam Delap has impressed with his 10 goals in the Premier League this season and according to the Daily Mail, Liverpool is in the mix of the clubs interested in him.

Delap’s release clause is reported to be around £40million, a relatively affordable sum compared to other targets like Hugo Ekitike, who is valued closer to £70million.

With Ipswich’s position in the league uncertain, Delap’s price could become even more appealing if they are relegated.

Liverpool will face competition from Manchester United, Chelsea, Newcastle, and even Delap’s former club, Manchester City, who hold a buyback option on him.

The Reds might have a slight advantage, however, as Jason Wilcox, their technical director, knows Delap well from his time at Manchester City’s academy.

A striker is a priority for Liverpool this summer, and Delap could be the right fit for their plans.

But with so many clubs interested, securing a deal won’t be straightforward.
