Liverpool maintained their grip at the top of the Premier League table with a 2-1 win over Wolves on Sunday afternoon.

Luis Diaz and a Mohamed Salah penalty put the Reds ahead by the interval before Matheus Cunha pulled a goal back to ensure a nervy final at Anfield.

Liverpool are again in top-flight action on Wednesday evening when they travel to Aston Villa looking to open up a 10-point lead over second-placed Arsenal.

And here we look ahead to the changes Slot could make when his team are next in action.

All change in defence?

The third of five pivotal Premier League games in 15 days is likely to mean increasing rotation from Slot for the trip to Villa Park.

Jarell Quansah earned praise from the Liverpool boss with his display when replacing Ibrahima Konate at half-time during the weekend, and will be pressing the France international for a start alongside skipper Virgil van Dijk at the heart of defence.

The two full-back positions are also not so clear-cut.

Andy Robertson had an inconsistent showing against Wolves with Kostas Tsimikas the alternative left-back, while on the opposite flank Conor Bradley impressed after being brought on for Trent Alexander-Arnold during the second half.

Alisson Becker suffered a cut to the shin on Sunday but was able to continue.

Should there be any doubts over his involvement, Caoimhin Kelleher is on standby to deputise with Vitezslav Jaros the number three goalkeeper.

Gravenberch decision

The return of Curtis Jones from a one-match suspension following his post-match red card at Everton and the fine cameo from Wataru Endo against Wolves will offer Slot much-needed options in a midfield that appeared tired on Sunday.

Ryan Gravenberch, who has started every Premier League game this season, seems due a rest, although Alexis Mac Allister looked leggy in the second half at the weekend despite having his minutes managed of late.

Jones and Endo could both operate in one of the double pivot roles, with the former also an alternative to Dominik Szoboszlai in the number 10 role with Harvey Elliott also competing for a start.

Tyler Morton is out after shoulder surgery and while James McConnell made the bench against Wolves, neither he nor fellow youngster Trey Nyoni have played a minute in the Premier League this term.

Slot has indicated Cody Gakpo, who missed out against Wolves with a foot injury, is likely to remain absent.

That would leave Luis Diaz on the left flank with Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez again battling it out for the number nine role.

Jota started at the weekend but tired in the second half, although Nunez did little to strengthen his claims with a disappointing cameo.

Mohamed Salah is first-choice on the right wing with Federico Chiesa having limited Premier League opportunites.
