After Sunday's demolition of Manchester United at Old Trafford, Liverpool are not in Premier League action for nearly two weeks.

The Reds will next welcome Nottingham Forest to Anfield on September 14.



In the meantime, members of the Reds' squad have jetted far and wide across the globe to join their international sides ahead of the first international break of the Premier League season.



Things are by no means quiet at Anfield, however, despite the international break providing a brief pause in Premier League proceedings.

Reds midfielder withdraws from international duty and returns to Anfield

Harvey Elliott has withdrawn from England's under-21s squad and returned to Liverpool.

Elliott was named in the Three Lions' under-21s squad for the upcoming European Championship qualifiers against Northern Ireland and Austria.

?


But after initially joining up with the Young Lions' squad earlier this week, the FA has confirmed that Elliott will return to Liverpool for "further medical assessments".

Elliott has been an unused substitute in all three of the Reds' Premier League games this season, with the latest of those coming at Old Trafford on Sunday as Liverpool beat Manchester United 3-0.

Future goalkeeper nominated for prestigious award

Future Liverpool Giorgi Mamardashvili has been nominated for the 2024 Yachine Trophy.

The 23-year-old will move to Anfield from Valencia next summer after the Reds reached a £30m agreement with the La Liga outfit last month.

On Wednesday night, the Georgian international was named on a 10-man shortlist for the Yachine Trophy, an accolade awarded to the best goalkeeper at the Ballon d'Or ceremony.

Mamardashvili will face competition from fellow nominees Diogo Costa, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Gregor Kobel, Andriy Lunin, Mike Maignan, Emiliano Martinez, Unai Simon, Yann Sommer and Ronwen Williams.

Mamardashvili will hope to repeat the feat of soon-to-be team-mate Alisson Becker, who the inaugural award in 2019.

The winner will be announced at the Ballon d'Or ceremony in Paris on October 28.
