Liverpool are facing a potential nightmare fixture schedule after being handed a tough draw for the Champions League last-16 knockout phase.

Arne Slot's men have been rewarded with a mouthwatering two-legged tie against PSG as they bid to win a seventh European Cup.

Facing the Ligue 1 champions is a tough test in itself for the Reds after Luis Enrique's side thrashed Brest 10-0 in aggregate in the play-off round.

But if Liverpool make it through to the quarter-finals and then semi-finals, navigating their congested fixture list will be a massive challenge for Slot and his coaching team.

The Reds face Tottenham at Anfield on April 26, with their potential semi-final clash taking place three or four days later.

The likes of Arsenal or Real Madrid could await them in the last four, offering an unwanted difficult distraction from their Premier League title challenge.

That will be followed by another tricky away trip, this time down south to the capital, as they are due to take on Enzo Maresca's Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on May 3.

And the clash will be sandwiched in between the second leg in the Champions League, which is due to take place either on May 6-7.

The quarter-finals, which take place in April, could be kinder to Liverpool if they advance against PSG.

And that may offer the ideal opportunity for Slot to rotate between options in his squad.

They take on Fulham on April 5, before a potential home clash against Aston Villa or Club Brugge three or four days later.

West Ham then meet them at Anfield on April 12, with an way trip either to Villa Park or Brussels on April 15 or 16, before taking on Leicester at the King Power Stadium on the weekend.

But being placed on the same side of the knockout draw as fellow Premier League sides Arsenal and Aston Villa, with European heavyweights Bayern Munich and Real Madrid also awaiting them, could throw a spanner in the works.
