Liverpool fans have torn into Piers Morgan for hinting that Mohamed Salah could be on his way to Saudi Arabia.
The Egyptian forward has long been linked with a move to the Middle East, particularly given he is now in the final six months of his Anfield deal. Al-Ittihad attempted to sign him in the summer of 2023 but a £150m bid was rebuffed by Liverpool bosses.
But it appears that all hope is not lost on tempting Salah to the Gulf state. In an interview with Morgan, The Saudi Minister of Sport Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal reaffirmed his intentions to sign Salah.
Sharing the interview on his social media channels, Morgan wrote: “Attention, all Liverpool fans!” But that does not appear to have gone down well, with Liverpool fans taking to Twitter to share their irritation.
One fan wrote: “I doubt that Mo is ready to turn his back on competitive football just yet Piers. Unlucky Gooners,” while another said: “Next you’ll be saying you’ve moved on from [Ollie] Watkins and have made Salah an offer.”
A final supporter replied: “So not content with going on about Isak at newcastle, you're now stirring the pot of the lfc supporters, can't wait until we knock you out the carabao cup Wednesday.”
As it stands, Salah is set to leave Liverpool for nothing at the end of the season, albeit discussions remain on to extend his stay at Anfield. Should a new deal fail to come to fruition, Saudi deal-makers are expected to be ready, as confirmed by Prince Abdulaziz.
He said: “He's the most high profile Muslim player in the world. He's arguably one of the best two or three players in the world. He hasn't signed a new contract yet. Is he? Is he the big prize?”

He then added: “Well, definitely, because if he ticks all the right boxes, even for us, we'd love to have him. He's, you know, he's Egyptian, and we have a very good relationship, and we feel like we are one with the Egyptians as well, from our culture and our history and so on.
"So to have Mo Salah or other players that are good role models would be, you know, a pleasure and a privilege to have in the Saudi League. Will it happen or not? That's up to the clubs to decide and to see what negotiations go on."
Salah has once again been in sensational form for Liverpool this season. The 32-year-old has 23 goals and 17 assists so far this term in all competitions.
