With his Spain future all but sealed now, Liverpool supporters have been left confused after reflecting on Alexander-Arnold’s celebration against West Ham back in December.
Having grabbed Liverpool’s fourth goal of the night against West Ham, the Reds right-back was seen holding his hand to his ear and imitating a chattering sound.
It what was first perceived as an act of defiance against all the noise and rumours linking him away from Liverpool – that perception has since changed however following the Madrid transfer.

Liverpool fans have taken to social media in the aftermath of the Alexander-Arnold news, highlighting their confusion at the right-back’s defiant celebration, even claiming they feel mocked by the Merseyside graduate.
One fan said via X (formerly Twitter): “Mocking us he knew he was off but this is only on Trent a little bit he’s obviously not confident with FSG.”

A third fan said: “Like I said when it happened, it was directed at Liverpool fans that their disappointment talk is nothing but noise to him.”
“He couldn’t have handled this worse,” added another supporter.
Alexander-Arnold didn’t comment on his celebration at the time, with the 26-year-old walking past reporters after being questioned about the meaning behind the message.
I don’t think I have to say much more about it.
“I’m really happy with Trent, just as happy as I am with Mo [Salah] and with Virgil.
For the outside world, maybe there’s a bit more things happening around Trent in the media than with the other two but I’m happy with all three of them at the moment.”
