Liverpool’s injury issues in defence have even seen Curtis Jones be tipped to play right-back, with Slot failing to rule out the possibility of moving the midfielder into the backline.
Despite these rumours, however, the Reds boss would go with Quansah at right-back – a decision that hasn’t paid off according to Liverpool supporters.
With Alexander-Arnold absent, Reds fans have highlighted the lack of creativity down the right hand side, particularly from Quansah.
One fan said on X (formerly Twitter): “Quansah at right-back is hurting us on the counter a little.”

A third fan said: “Lack of Trent is making Salah’s life so much harder down the right.
Newcastle players couldn’t care less what Quansah is doing all their sights are on Salah.”
“Our right wing is pretty much useless now because Quansah can’t go forward like a RB and our left wing is a write off,” added another supporter.
Alexander-Arnold’s absence from the Liverpool lineup, clearly caused problems for Slot’s men against Newcastle, particularly for Mohamed Salah.
The Egyptian is famed for his link-up with Trent on the right-hand side, and he would miss his right-back partner dearly in the first half.
Liverpool failed to get Salah into the game at all, with the Reds attacker only managing 13 touches in the first 45.

With Alexander-Arnold linked with a Liverpool exit, Salah’s numbers may take a hit in the future if his right-sided partner is no longer there.
