Liverpool supporters have a Monday to look forward to as they soak in the celebrations from their Premier League title win.

The Reds secured the 20th league crown in their history on Sunday after demolishing Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 at Anfield.

With Arsenal now sitting 15 points behind Liverpool with just four games left to play, Arne Slot’s team can no longer be caught.

There were great scenes as the Liverpool squad, coaching staff and fans enjoyed their win together, with Anfield able to release the demons of the behind-closed-doors win of 2020.

After the stadium had finally cleared out, though, the players were able to take it all in in their own private ways.

And having been seen surveying an empty Anfield from the stands, this has perhaps given Liverpool fans fresh reason to worry about the future of Ibrahima Konate.

Konate has been a big reason for Liverpool winning the Premier League this season.

Literally.

However, while Van Dijk’s contract situation – as well as that of Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold – has taken the headlines, Konate is quietly moving towards the final year of his deal, too.

During the celebrations, Cody Gakpo dropped a hint that Alexander-Arnold could yet stay, but reporter James Pearce captured a moment which may provide worry over Konate.

With Anfield empty and fans moving the party to the streets outside and the city itself, Pearce spotted the 25-year-old taking a moment to himself.

“Ibrahima Konate sat in the Main Stand looking out over the pitch,” wrote the journalist, complete with a photo of Konate and a nice little quote.

“What a feeling to see it from up here,” the centre-back is reported to have said.

Even if Konate were to leave Liverpool this summer, Sunday would not have been his final chance to say goodbye to Anfield.

There are still two more home games left to play.

But to make a point of heading up to the main stand while he had the chance could be significant.

It could be nothing at all, but Konate also shared a video on his Instagram stories as he stood alone in the middle of an empty pitch.

This has occasionally been a sign of a player saying his farewells.

There is certainly a conversation to be had over Konate’s future this summer as he enters into his final contracted year.

Liverpool supporters would much, much prefer to keep their No.5 who has become a fixture in the team under Slot.

But if they cannot agree to extend his terms, then it would not be a surprise if this was indeed the beginning of a long goodbye from Konate.
