Plenty of Liverpool fans believe Southampton's opening goal at Anfield should not have stood due to an apparent foul on Alisson in the build-up.

The table-topping Reds trailed 20th-placed Saints at half-time after Will Smallbone slotted home at the Brazilian goalkeeper's near post.

However, replays showed that Alisson was knocked off balance by Southampton's Mateus Fernandes, which ultimately impacted his chances of keeping the ball out of the net.

Alisson protested to the referee, signalling in the direction of Fernandes, but the incident was not checked by the video assistant referee and the game restarted with the Reds trailing by a goal.
