The excitement is back at Liverpool after Mohamed Salah put pen to paper on a new contract.

After what has been a terrific season for the Reds, the balloon burst ever so slightly recently after a series of poor results on the pitch.

However, Salah’s extension and the news that Virgil van Dijk will imminently sign a new deal as well has brought back the spark at Anfield.

There is also the small matter of a Premier League title to be won.

If Liverpool can get a win over West Ham on Sunday, the feelgood factor will be well and truly back.

Beyond that, it also promises to be an exciting transfer window for the Reds.

After staying quiet last summer and in January, plenty of movement is expected.

And as Richard Hughes gears up for a key summer as sporting director, former striker Tony Cascarino has made an interesting prediction about what Liverpool are about to do.

After Salah signed and with Van Dijk all geared up to do the same, Liverpool’s transfer plans have become clearer this week.

The Reds are badly in need of a more reliable goal-scorer through the middle of the attack and could also do with a new starter at left-back.

There are other things that need addressing too and, speaking to TalkSPORT, Cascarino has predicted that there will be some ‘major signings’ brought in.

“I do think there’s some major signings coming in at Anfield this summer, I really do,” said the pundit and Liverpool fan.

“I think there’ll be a centre-forward who comes in, whoever that is, whether it’s [Alexander] Isak or a [Victor] Osimhen or someone else.

I might be wrong, there might someone else they’ve identified.”

As well as backing Liverpool to go out and get a new forward, Cascarino claimed that it will almost certainly come at the expense of Darwin Nunez.

“Nunez will be gone, I don’t see Nunez being at Anfield next year, I’d be surprised,” he said.

But I don’t think he’s the goal machine Liverpool have had in previous players.”

With two of their best players all set to continue and – hopefully – a Premier League title in their back pocket, the Reds are in a great position to attack the summer.
