Liverpool held onto their top spot in the Premier League with a 2-1 victory over Wolves on Sunday.

Luis Diaz and a Mohamed Salah penalty gave the Reds a comfortable lead by half-time, but Matheus Cunha's goal ensureda tense finish at Anfield.

The Reds will be back in action on Wednesday evening when they face Aston Villa, hoping to extend their lead over second-placed Arsenal to 10 points.

We now turn our attention to potential changes that Arne Slot could make for the upcoming match...

Could we see a defensive reshuffle?

With five crucial Premier League matches in just 15 days, rotation is likely to increase for the trip to Villa Park.

Andy Robertson's inconsistent performance against Wolves leaves room for Kostas Tsimikas to step in as left-back, while Conor Bradley made a strong case for himself after replacing Trent Alexander-Arnold in the second half.

Alisson Becker sustained a shin injury on Sunday but was able to continue playing.

If there are any concerns about his fitness, Caoimhin Kelleher is ready to step in, with Vitezslav Jaros as the third-choice goalkeeper.

A decision on Gravenberch is pending

The return of Curtis Jones from a one-match suspension following his post-match red card at Everton and the impressive performance from Wataru Endo against Wolves will provide Slot with much-needed options in a midfield that seemed fatigued on Sunday.

Ryan Gravenberch, who has started every Premier League game this season, appears due for a break, despite Alexis Mac Allister looking weary in the second half at the weekend even though his playing time has been managed recently.

Both Jones and Endo could fill one of the double pivot roles, with Jones also being an alternative to Dominik Szoboszlai in the number 10 role while Harvey Elliott is also vying for a start.

Tyler Morton is unavailable after shoulder surgery and while James McConnell made the bench against Wolves, neither he nor fellow youngster Trey Nyoni have played a minute in the Premier League this term.

Scarce attacking options

Slot has hinted that Cody Gakpo, who was absent against Wolves due to a foot injury, is likely to remain sidelined.

This would leave Diaz on the left wing with Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez again competing for the number nine role.

Jota started at the weekend but appeared tired in the second half, although Nunez did little to bolster his claims with a disappointing cameo.
