Liverpool full-back Owen Beck, who has been playing on loan at Blackburn Rovers for the entirety of the 2024/25 campaign, has seen his season end prematurely because of a hamstring injury, his manager Valerian Ismael has confirmed.

The Reds have many promising youngsters out on loan this term, one of them being Beck with 26 appearances in all competitions at his temporary Championship employers this term.

Previously at Anfield he had made three senior appearances for Liverpool with the majority of his action coming within the youth ranks.

He earned great praise from his former Rovers boss John Eustace and had continued to perform under replacement Ismael.

That was until last weekend, when the 22-year-old was substituted after only 13 minutes in a match against Portsmouth.

On Thursday looking ahead to their Friday night match against Middlesbrough, Ismael regrettably confirmed to Rovers TV: "We have bad news about Owen Beck, who will be out for the rest of the season with a hamstring injury, which will keep him out for at least eight weeks."

Also confirming a six-week injury to teammate Hayden Carter, he added: "You’re not only losing players, you’re losing the profiles.

You’re missing the energy and the intensity that Owen has and the physicality of Hayden, whilst both are versatile.

"Injuries were something I was aware of before I came in.

At the end of this season he would have been expected to depart Ewood Park and return to his parent club, with whom he has a contract with until next summer, 2026.

Regardless, he should be disappointed to miss this crucial part of the season.

Rovers sit 11th in the Championship standings at present.

This may seem like a mid-table finish is certain with seven matches to go, though actually they sit only five points shy of the top six and a place in the promotion play-offs.

At Liverpool, they were more fortunate with the ankle injury to Trent Alexander-Arnold last month.
