The Reds now have a crucial lead heading into the second leg tie at Anfield next week.
Here, the ECHO takes a look at the transfer news and rumours that have emerged in the last 24 hours.
Approach 'considered' for Portugal international
TEAMtalk report AC Milan winger Rafael Leao could be available for a cut price fee which is thought to have caught the Reds' attention.
It's not the first time the 25-year-old has been linked with a move to Anfield and given Luis Diaz continues to be linked with an exit, the club might have to start looking at replacements.
Leao is also said to be on Barcelona's radar, with the Spanish giants making an approach last December to express their desire to open negotiations in the summer
His signature will come at a hefty price of €100million (£83m) although that is down from a whooping €175m (£146m).
The report adds that despite his full release clause of €175m which will be activated in the summer, the Italian side have set a lower asking price.
Reds 'in the running' for Kerkez transfer
The Telegraph claim Liverpool will be one of the teams in the running for the signature of Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez
Fabrizio Romano revealed this week the 21-year-old is expected to leave the south coast to 'try a new chapter.'
Liverpool are likely to be in the market in the summer and have Kerkez on their radar, should they decide to bolster their defensive options
Kerkez could be a long-term replacement for Andy Robertson at Anfield.
