Liverpool may have been given fresh hope when it comes to completing a potential summer transfer.

One position that has seen suggestions of being in need of reinforcements is centre-back, with several players being linked with moves to Anfield in the months ahead.

Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen has been mentioned on the rumour mill in recent weeks.



Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Huijsen has a £50million release clause in his contract at Bournemouth, but adds that it will not become active until this summer.

The latest report does not mention Liverpool specifically, but adds that several clubs are apparently already showing an interest in signing the 19-year-old defender.

It was recently reported by TBR Football that the Reds are keen on signing Huijsen, but will face competition from Arsenal and Chelsea.

Liverpool face an uncertain future when it comes to the centre-back position in their squad.

Virgil van Dijk is out of contract at the end of the season and is yet to put pen to paper on an extension.

Ibrahima Konate has recently been linked with a move away from Anfield, with Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid reportedly showing an interest.

Joe Gomez was heavily linked with an exit from the Reds last summer but has played a key role in Arne Slot's squad this term alongside Van Dijk, Konate and Jarell Quansah.
