Liverpool have been handed a potential boost amid reports they have an interest in signing Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak this summer.

The Reds have been credited with signing the Magpies star in recent months, with reports intensifying since the January transfer window.

It's not just Liverpool that have reportedly been showing an interest in Isak, though.

Arsenal and Barcelona have also been linked with the Sweden international as one of their summer transfer targets.

Isak has scored 24 goals in all competitions for Newcastle this season, including two against Liverpool - one of those proved to be the winner in the Carabao Cup Final last month.

It's that rich vein of form which has led to the striker being linked with a big-money move when the summer transfer window opens, with Newcastle setting a reported asking price in the region of £150million.

According to Chronicle Live, though, it seems that Liverpool will no longer face competition from Arsenal for Isak's signature.

The report claims that the Gunners are not pursuing a deal to sign the Newcastle striker, instead focusing their attention on Sporting Lisbon forward Viktor Gyokeres.

Liverpool are not mentioned in the report, so it remains to be seen if the Reds will submit a formal bid this summer, despite reports from elsewhere claiming Arne Slot's side are keen on Isak.

It has been stated, though, that Newcastle have no interest in letting Isak leave St James' Park this summer despite reported interest from several clubs, and want to open talks with the striker over extending his contract.

There have been several rumours claiming that Liverpool are looking to sign a new striker in the summer, with the current Premier League leaders looking to revamp their attack ahead of next season.

As well as Isak, Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike and Atletico Madrid's Julian Alvarez are two other forwards who have been mentioned on the Reds rumour mill over the last few weeks.

Arne Slot started Diogo Jota in the centre forward role in the win over Everton in midweek.

Liverpool also have Darwin Nunez in their striker options, while Luis Diaz has also been used in the role this term.
