Liverpool have been dealt a blow in the race to sign Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen.
The Reds have been heavily linked with a move for the Spain international, who has also been mentioned as a potential target for Arsenal and Real Madrid in recent weeks.
The Telegraph have reported that Chelsea are now the front runners to sign Huijsen this summer, with the London outfit said to be ahead of Liverpool in the battle for the centre-back's signature.
Huijsen has impressed in his debut season in the Premier League with Bournemouth and is thought to have a £50million release clause in his contract with the Cherries.
Liverpool have been handed an update in the battle to sign Antoine Semenyo, a teammate of Huijsen's at Bournemouth.

The Independent have reported that Liverpool are among a host of clubs that are monitoring Semenyo ahead of the summer transfer window, but are joined by Arsenal and Manchester United in the race for the forward's signature.
Various reports have claimed to suggest that Bournemouth value Semenyo at around £70million this summer, and it remains to be seen if Liverpool would be interested in meeting that price tag.
Semenyo has impressed at Bournemouth this season, scoring 10 goals with six assists in all competitions this term.
