However, an over-reliance on the Egyptian has been discussed as time has gone on with the rest of the attackers that accompany Salah on the forward line failing to reach anywhere near the numbers that Salah has been putting up.

Liverpool will look to the transfer market this summer in an attempt to strengthen their attacking department, adding extra firepower that will help the team achieve even greater success next year.

Jonathan David is a Canadian international that has hugely impressed since moving to Lille in 2020.

The 25-year-old has led their front line for nearly five years now and has developed into one of the best strikers in the world.

He has been described as a player with a unique mentality who never stops, attributes that would quickly make him a fan favourite at Liverpool.

Liverpool have long been admirers of David, but they have now made their first step to push for his signing.

According to Caught Offside, Liverpool have initiated contact to sign Jonathan David, joining the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United.

David is yet to sign a new deal with Lille and seems destined to become a free agent this summer.

The online publication reveals that the idea of joining one of the biggest clubs in the world is an exciting prospect for Jonathan David and acquiring a talent of such a high level on a free would be a major bargain for Liverpool.

With Darwin Nunez likely to depart the club this summer, Liverpool could turn to Jonathan David, who could just be the answer to their problems.
