And former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes no English team will ever write their name into the history books by winning the quadruple.

Speaking back in 2025, the Scot, who won the treble in 1999, insisted a four-way triumph at home and abroad is impossible.

Ferguson’s words were echoed by Pep Guardiola, who, speaking five years ago, was keen to point out that if the Scot was unable to win four trophies in one season, then nobody in football would be capable of achieving the feat.

In the semi final of the FA Cup, they had 10 v 11 and Ryan Giggs ran past five or six and in the final of the Champions League at Camp Nou and everything there.

"So to win the treble is so tough
