Liverpool enter tonight’s clash with a comfortable nine-point cushion over Arsenal following the Gunners’ victory against Fulham last night.
Arne Slot’s men need just 16 more points from their remaining fixtures to mathematically secure what would be their second Premier League title in 5 years.
Having experienced setbacks before the international break—exiting the Champions League to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties and losing the Carabao Cup final to Newcastle—the Reds will be eager to refocus their energies on domestic dominance.
Meanwhile, Everton arrive at Anfield in impressive form under David Moyes, unbeaten in their last nine Premier League matches.
However, their recent run includes four consecutive draws, leaving them 15th in the table with 34 points.
The Toffees will be motivated not only by derby pride but also by the potential to extend Moyes’ search for his first-ever win at Anfield as a manager.
And it seems that Liverpool FC are worried that the occasion may overaw fans who are greeting the team bus.
Indeed, the club has released a statement about their concern over the safety on Anfield Road.
Against PSG, fans blocked the road completely, with the club having to change the team bus route into the stadium.
While the club recognizes that it is a tradition, they’ve asked fans to stay on the sidewalks and spread themselves out along the whole street instead of crowding one area.
If everyone’s in the road, they’ll have no choice but to send the bus a different way, which ruins the tradition for everyone.
A statement on the matter read:
“The club would like supporters to keep welcoming the team bus – it’s a big part of the Anfield pre-match atmosphere – but to do that safely, the road must be kept clear on Anfield Road.”
Meet and greets along Anfield Road are a matchday tradition.
Fans attending the match can help to make sure the team gets the welcome they deserve without compromising safety by staying on the footpaths, staying off the road and by using the whole length of Anfield Road.
“LFC’s safety team and Merseyside Police officers will be coordinating the operation on Anfield Road this evening?
Please support the guidance from the police and stewards if asked to move to a safer position in order for the team bus to pass safely and arrive at the stadium in good time.”
