Liverpool will have to pay a hefty transfer fee if they are to sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush.

That's according to the German club's sporting director Markus Krosche.

Marmoush has made a blistering start to the campaign with 14 goals and 10 assists in just 16 appearances, leading to speculation that top clubs across Europe are keeping a watchful eye, including Liverpool.

In an interview with German newspaper WELT, Krosche was asked about a supposed €40m market value for the 25-year-old Egyptian, but that figure was quickly rejected as he bluntly said: “That won’t be enough.”

While Krosche insisted that the plan is for Marmoush is to stay at Frankfurt until the end of the season, he did admit that a substantial offer from a top club would be accepted.

He said: “With many players who come to us, it is ultimately the case that we offer them an environment in which they can develop - knowing full well that we will let them go if they develop faster than the club itself.

“This is an agreement we make with the boys.

That's why we are able to attract so many exciting players, because they know they can take the next step in Frankfurt.”

Krosche continued that despite a number of reports detailing Liverpool’s interest in the player, it has not led to a lack of focus.

He said: “For Omar, it's not part of his everyday life.

"There are not many players from Egypt and the Arab countries who went to Europe and fought for success, and Marmoush is one of them," Salah said.

"I see that he has great potential, he is an important player for his team and the national team, I want to stay away from him the idea of comparisons to make his life easier.

"I want people to stop comparing him to me, by saying that he will be the new Salah and will do what he did and overcome, that will put him under pressure all the time and does not help the player.

"It will put him in comparison with a player who has been very successful over the past years, but he is still starting his career.

The transfer was finalised after a season where the Frenchman banked 23 goals and 17 assists, concluding speculation much like Marmoush is currently receiving.
