The ex-midfielder is on the lookout for a new job after leaving Saudi club Al-Ettifaq at the end of last month.

Former Leicester City and Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper is the favourite to return to the Liberty Stadium with odds of 6/5 and a 45.5 percent probability.

Robert Page (2/1) and Russell Martin (9/4) are the others ahead of Gerrard in the betting.

Gerrard has however been named as favourite to take over at Middlesbrough should the club decide to make a change.

There was a lot of talk over the future of Michael Carrick at the club following the 1-0 loss against Watford on Saturday.

However, our colleagues over at TeesideLive report that Carrick will be staying at the club and will be given time to try and turn the team’s slump around.

Amid the speculation over Carrick’s future, Gerrrard was named as favourite as his replacement with odds of 5/4 and a 44.4 percent probability of taking over.

Steve Cooper was second favourite at 6/4 (40%), with former England boss Gareth Southgate the third favourite with odds of 7/4 (36.4%).
