Liverpool youngster Oakley Cannonier is having a trial with Championship outfit Leeds United.

Cannonier is spending the week with the Yorkshire outfit and featured for their under-21 side for the final half-hour of the 2-1 Premier League 2 home defeat to West Ham United on Monday night.

The 20-year-old striker has made just four appearances for Liverpool’s U21s this season having been hampered by injury during the last few campaigns.

The homegrown forward made only 17 outings over the previous two seasons having been a regular goalscorer at U18 level, where he made his breakthrough during the 2020/21 season.

He has represented Liverpool in the FA Youth Cup, the EFL Trophy and the UEFA Youth League.

Cannonier shot to prominence in May 2019 when, while still in the younger age groups at the Academy, he was employed as a ball boy for the Champions League semi-final second leg against Barcelona

It was the youngster who threw the ball to Trent Alexander-Arnold for the defender’s quickly-taken corner that was converted by Divock Origi to complete a remarkable comeback to win 4-3 on aggregate having lost the first leg 3-0.
