Liverpool are said to be planning an ambitious bid for Adam Wharton in the upcoming summer transfer window in the hope that Crystal Palace can be persuaded to sell their highly sought-after playmaker.
Wharton, 21, has managed the step up to the Premier League with aplomb since joining the Eagles from Blackburn Rovers back in February 2024 and has already been touted as a future target for some of the division's big boys, with his form also earning him a first senior England cap.
The youngster's 2024-25 campaign has been a frustrating one due to injury.
But that hasn't deterred any of his suitors - and that could lead to a scramble for his services in the upcoming summer window.
According to a new report from The Sun, Liverpool are among those who could move for Wharton.
It's said the Reds' transfer team are 'focusing' on the midfielder, who would likely cost in excess of £50million.

It's claimed that Wharton, who was born and raised in Blackburn, would be interested in an opportunity to return to the north-west.
But while they and Liverpool may be keen, Palace will be desperate to keep hold of Wharton and their other top assets.

Crucially, the Londoners are in a strong position on that front, with Wharton's contract still having four years left to run.
The Eagles could also offer Wharton the carrot of featuring in Europe next season after reaching the FA Cup final courtesy of a thumping 3-0 win over Aston Villa on Saturday.
Liverpool would be able to offer the youngster the chance to fight for league titles and play in the Champions League if they do go on to strike a deal with Palace for the midfielder.
It is no secret that a flurry of transfer activity is expected at Anfield this summer as Arne Slot continues to put his fingerprints on the squad.
The Reds can clinch the title on Sunday if they avoid defeat against Tottenham at Anfield, meaning any new summer recruits would be joining the Premier League champions.
