Liverpool have reportedly contacted Aurelien Tchouameni's representatives to gauge his interest in joining them from Real Madrid.
It is said that Liverpool have opened talks with Tchouameni's associates in the hope of finally bringing him to Anfield.
Real Madrid are thought to be open to selling the Frenchman, who they signed from Monaco in the summer of 2022.
They would reportedly be willing to consider offers in the region of £50million after identifying a number of potential replacements.
The report adds that Real Madrid are keen on signing Rodri from Manchester City to shore up their midfield ranks.
Martin Zubimendi was their top target but the 25-year-old ultimately chose to stay at Real Sociedad.
It remains to be seen if Real Madrid would be willing to sell Tchouameni in January or if they would only consider letting him go at the end of the season.
He was booed by Real Madrid fans after making a mistake against AC Milan on Tuesday before being hooked at the interval.
He is also yet to score or provide an assist despite making 15 appearances in all competitions so far this season.
Tchouameni's stuttering form may have influenced Real Madrid's decision to seek alternative options, which could allow Liverpool to pounce.
Only time will tell if the Reds can finally land their man over the coming months, with his current employers seemingly open to letting him leave.
