Mark Lawrenson on Virgil van Dijk and Liverpool contracts

"The longer the contract sagas go on with Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, the more it makes me think they’ll be leaving," Mark Lawrenson has told Paddy Power.

"I don’t know what’s happening with them because if they were very close to signing a contract, it usually gets leaked, football clubs are like that.

"Then he brings Conor Bradley on which is fine, but he’s not as good as Trent.

I think Liverpool could have gone on to win the game with Trent on the pitch.

They need to start from Van Dijk and then think about the two others because he’s massive for Liverpool.

"Virgil van Dijk hasn’t been linked with anyone and that’s good for Liverpool and I’m guessing that with him, the stumbling block is money.

"I think Trent Alexander-Arnold will go to Madrid, but there aren’t many players who have improved or even been at the same level as when they were at Liverpool apart from Luis Suárez, so we’ll see."
