Mamadou Sakho has revealed that he had various options on the table before joining Liverpool.

And a former Reds player helped push him toward Anfield.

"I remember, when I had the opportunity to move from PSG, I had the offer from Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Arsenal, and I chose Liverpool," Sakho recalled on the Obi One podcast.



And it was Nicolas Anelka, who had spent time with both the Reds and the Gunners, that influenced his call.

"Nicolas Anelka, in PSG, he trained with us for one month," Sakho explained.

"He said to me ‘Mama, if you ever have a chance to go to the UK, Liverpool is something unbelievable."

Sakho ended up being well-liked at Liverpool.
