Liverpool will return to Premier League action this week, following a break for the FA Cup Third-Round last weekend.
Arne Slot’s side faced off against League Two outfit Accrington Stanley at Anfield on Saturday, and were comfortable 4-0 winners in the end after a spirited performance from the lower-league side.
Diogo Jota, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jayden Danns and a first Liverpool goal for Federico Chiesa, confirmed a place in the fourth-round and have been drawn away to EFL Championship strugglers, Plymouth Argyle.
After a weekend of cup action, Liverpool’s attention must switch back onto their Premier League title charge with some crucial games ahead.
Surprise chasers Nottingham Forest and Arsenal seem to be the Reds’ only threats in their attempt to win the Premier League, following Chelsea’s dropped points in their last four matches, and Manchester City’s unlikely collapse.
Here, we will be assessing the upcoming five Premier League fixtures for Liverpool and the chasing pack.

Nottingham Forest (A) – 14th January
Brentford (A) – 18th January
Ipswich Town (H) – 25th January
Bournemouth (A) – 1st February
Wolverhampton Wanderers (H) – 16th February
Liverpool begin this fixture run with the toughest of their next five, going by the current league standings.
They will travel to a high-in-confidence Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night.
A Forest side under Nuno Espirito-Santo that has kept a clean sheet in all of their last four Premier League matches.
Arne Slot will have had this return fixture pencilled in his diary after suffering his first and only league defeat last September, as Callum Hudson-Odoi scored the only goal at Anfield.
Revenge will feel very sweet if Liverpool could take a huge three points away from the City Ground.
The Reds will then play another away fixture this coming Saturday, as they head to Brentford’s GTECH Community Stadium.
The Bees did have a perfect home record at the GTECH, before going on to lose consecutively against Nottingham Forest and Arsenal.
Despite this, Liverpool will know to expect a difficult test.
Ipswich Town are the visitors to Anfield one week later, a side that Slot defeated 2-0 in his first Premier League fixture back in August, at Portman Road.
The ‘Tractor Boys’ are experiencing a slight upturn in form, picking up four points from Chelsea and Fulham, but Liverpool should prove to be too strong, just as they were six months ago.
Away to Bournemouth at the start of February will round off a tricky period of away fixtures for the Reds, before hosting new Wolves man, Vitor Pereira at Anfield which follows an FA Cup Fourth-Round tie versus Plymouth.

Tottenham Hotspur (H) – 15th January
Aston Villa (H) – 18th January
Wolverhampton Wanderers (A) – 25th February
Manchester City (H) – 2nd February
Leicester City (A) – 15th February
Arsenal will be hoping to turn around their recent fortunes after suffering defeats in both domestic cup competitions last week, whilst also dropping points in their last Premier League fixture away to Brighton and Hove Albion.
The Gunners host Tottenham for a huge North London derby clash on Wednesday night, where they’ll seek victory to stay within six points of Liverpool.
Aston Villa and former Arsenal boss Unai Emery, will then visit the Emirates Stadium at the weekend in another tough clash, a fixture that the Gunners went on to lose 2-0 in the latter stages of last season.
Mikel Arteta’s team will then meet a new-look Wolves under Pereira at Molineux before hosting a Manchester City side, in a game where Liverpool supporters will hope that City can take points off of the Gunners, if they are to remain in the title-picture by that stage.
A favorable away game against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium, will complete a tricky fixture period for Arsenal.

Liverpool (H) – 14th January
Southampton (H) – 19th January
Bournemouth (A) – 25th January
Brighton and Hove Albion (H) – 1st February
Fulham (A) – 15th February
Nottingham Forest are definitely the surprise of the season.
Sat in third place in the Premier League, six points off Liverpool means Tuesday’s home fixture against the Reds is a big one.
They will certainly feel like they can perfect a league double over the league leaders but Arne Slot and his side will have other ideas.
Forest will then host rock-bottom Southampton, a team that are heading for relegation and are on course to break Derby County’s worst Premier League points record of eleven over a 38-game season, set in 2007-08.
A tricky trip to Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth will then be next in store, a game in which dropped points would not be a surprise, before February sees Forest host Fabian Hurzeler’s draw-specialists Brighton, before heading to West London to face Fulham.
Liverpool’s next five Premier League fixtures look the kindest on paper compared to their challengers, but do face some difficult away trips.
UEFA Champions League, Carabao Cup and FA Cup fixtures will be sandwiched in-between, so expect further twists as the Reds continue their quest for a twentieth league title.
