Liverpool came back to defeat Southampton 3-1 at Anfield, with Darwin Nunez playing a crucial role despite calls from some sections for him to be sent off.

VAR checked the challenge for a potential red card, but he was only cautioned with a yellow card, and the frontman soon made his mark elsewhere.

The Uruguay international went on to redeem himself, scoring the equaliser in the 51st minute and also winning a penalty for his team minutes later.



Mohamed Salah made no mistake from the spot to move into third place of all-time Liverpool top-scorers - surpassing Gordon Hodgson.

He added to his tally by converting a second goal - also from the spot - with two minutes from time.
