Liverpool look likely to be in the market for a new forward during the summer transfer window.

The Reds have hardly been goal shy this season and are the current top scorers in the Premier League.

Nevertheless, there is always room to improve and as Darwin Nunez’s glaring miss against Aston Villa highlighted, Liverpool can do better.

Diogo Jota missed a sitter against Villa as well, leading to fans urging FSG to sign a new attacker in the summer.

One player who has certainly put himself in the shop window recently has been Wolves star man Matheus Cunha.

Cunha was superb against Liverpool last weekend, bending home his 12th Premier League goal of the campaign.

And as the Reds look for their ideal new addition, Rousing The Kop transfer correspondent Graeme Bailey has assessed how likely Cunha is to be on his way to Anfield.

Not only did Cunha get his goal against Liverpool, but the Brazilian was generally a nightmare for the Reds to deal with all day long.

Virgil van Dijk hailed Cunha after the game, echoing Arne Slot, who had praised the 25-year-old in the build-up.

As a result, it is no surprise to hear that Liverpool are keeping tabs on Cunha ahead of the transfer window.

However, according to Bailey, the former Atletico Madrid man is only one of a number of options the Reds are looking into.

“He’s clearly one they’re aware of, they like him,” says the transfer expert.

“He’s had a fantastic season and he’ll certainly be in contention but he won’t be cheap.

“He’s certainly on Liverpool’s radar, though, as with a few others.”

Sunday’s goal was Cunha’s 12th of the Premier League season and equalled his tally from 2023/24.

The difference last year is that the Brazil international has managed it in eight less appearances.

Cunha has not been quite so prolific in terms of assists, registering seven last season as opposed to four this time around.

However, with 13 games still to play, he has a good chance of bettering it yet.

The Wolves forward also has one goal in one FA Cup appearance this term, bringing his tally to 13 goals in 26 games across all competitions.

A good record which has understandably caught Liverpool’s attention.
