Arne Slot has revealed how he intends to stop Alexander Isak when Liverpool face Newcastle United in midweek.

Liverpool welcome the top-four chasing Magpies to Anfield this Wednesday, with the game set to kick off a 8:15pm GMT.

Slot’s men enter the game looking to maintain their eleven-point lead at the top.

But they could be hurt by the in-form Alexander Isak, who is also attracting interest from the Reds.

The Swedish international is one of the most lethal strikers in Europe this season.

He has already scored 21 times and provided five assists in 30 games this season.

Though Isak has never tasted a win in five games against Liverpool (four losses and one draw), he has four goal contributions against the Reds in those games (three goals and one assist).

Ahead of the upcoming game between Liverpool and Newcastle, Slot was asked how he planned to stop the 25-year-old, who has scored 19 league goals this season.

Liverpool plan to stop Alexander Isak

When asked if he had any special plans for Isak, Slot admitted that while the Swede is in very good form, Liverpool have the ideal players to deal with him

“It’s an understatement to say that he (Isak) is in fine form,” Slot said during his pre-match press conference.

“I think he’s in excellent form.

So the more ball possession we have, the easier it is to control him, although he is definitely a threat on the counter-attack as well.

“We’ve got two very, very, very good centre-backs, and that’s definitely what you need if you face a striker with the quality of Alexander Isak.”

Slot also revealed that Isak is not Newcastle’s only danger man, praising Eddie Howe for the work he is doing at St.

James’ Park.

“But it’s not only about him, I like the style of play that Eddie Howe introduced there,” Slot added.

“They are always a team that has a very good game plan.
