A former Liverpool captain has sold his match-worn cup final shirt and his collection of international kits for over £100,000.
It was announced in September 2024 that an unnamed ex-player would be selling the shirts at auction with Hansons Auctioneers.

Among the shirts were jerseys from each of England’s seven opponents during their journey to the World Cup semi-final against West Germany in 1990.
The unique collection included Andy Townsend's Republic of Ireland jersey and shirts worn by Klaus Augenthaler of West Germany and Italy's Giuseppe Giannini.
Shirts exchanged with Johannes van 't Schip, of Holland, Saber Eid, of Egypt, Marc van Der Linden, of Belgium, and Emmanuel Kundé, of Cameroon.
There was also a shirt worn by Peter Shilton during their penalty shoot-out defeat, signed by the England squad, which is also included in the collection.
A match-worn Liverpool shirt from the 1992 FA Cup final was also featured.
This is the first time a complete and unique set of football shirts relating to England’s Italia 1990 tournament have been available to buy.

Speaking of his memories of the tournament, Wright, 61, said he felt lucky to be part of such a memorable World Cup.
This is the first collection as a unit from that tournament that's ever been out there.
