And it was while I was on there recently that I noticed that this week (Wednesday, June 26) marks Bobby Duncan’s birthday.

Now, any player who is part of an FA Youth Cup winning side and who makes it all the way into a Premier League first-team squad - especially one as good as Liverpool’s - must not only be prodigiously talented but also have shown an incredible amount of determination and resilience to reach that point.

Sadly, such is the cut-throat world of football, especially at elite level, those players who do what Duncan did and go close to shattering the glass ceiling only to fall short of making a senior appearance for their club are often forgotten

However, Duncan, who turns 23 on Wednesday, is different.

A record-breaking goalscorer at Cardinal Heenan High School and Huyton Schoolboys, his first season at the club he supported all his life was a massive success.

Alongside Paul Glatzel, the pair plundered almost 60 goals over the course of the 2018-19 campaign, and it was Duncan's late equaliser against his former club Man City in the FA Youth Cup final that ensured the game went to extra-time and ultimately penalties, which Liverpool won 5-3.

Then, in July 2019, he came on and scored in a 6-0 pre-season friendly win over Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park for Jurgen Klopp’s first team, who were playing their first match since winning the Champions League final in Madrid.

It was in August 2019 that Duncan's then representative Saif Rubie posted an explosive tweet - for a brief time endorsed by the player himself, in the form of a quote tweet - outlining a host of claims against the club and then sporting director Michael Edwards.

Among the allegations were that the Reds were keeping the player against his will, Duncan would never play for the club again and that the then teenager was suffering mental health problems as a consequence of his treatment.

In response, Liverpool released a statement that read: "Liverpool Football Club is aware of and disappointed by the unattributed comments and unfounded allegations that have been made in the media regarding one of our players.

"As the interests of the player in question are not best served by either inaccurate speculation, inflammatory statements or public discourse, we will be making no further comment.

"We will, however, continue our efforts to work privately with the player to find resolution in the best interests of all involved."

By the following month, Duncan had signed for Fiorentina in a deal worth £1.8m.

Records show that was the England youth international’s last club and that he is currently a free agent.

It was during his time at Linense that Duncan took to Twitter to open up on his exit from his beloved Liverpool.

And by then the damage had been done.”

It is sobering to see some of the players who lined up alongside and against Duncan in the 2019 FA Youth Cup final at the Etihad Campus - Cole Palmer, Jeremie Frimpong, Eric Garcia, Felix Nmecha, Neco Williams, Leighton Clarkson, Rhys Williams and others who are have made a career for themselves in senior football.

At the time Duncan was arguably as good as any of them
