Liverpool’s Premier League title charge has been complicated by Trent Alexander-Arnold’s lingering ankle injury, sustained during the dramatic Champions League exit to Paris Saint-Germain on March 11.
Scans later revealed no ligament damage, but the 26-year-old has missed six weeks and counting, including the Carabao Cup final defeat to Newcastle United.
There have been concerns that the vice-captain may not return before the end of the season.
He was absent for wins against Everton (2-0), Fulham (3-1), and West Ham (2-1), as well as the shock loss to Fulham.
The 26-year-old was withdrawn from March’s World Cup qualifiers against Switzerland and Sweden, handing Chelsea’s Reece James a starting role.
But now Sky Sports’ Vinny O’Connor, reporting at the AXA Training Centre, has revealed that Trent Alexander-Arnold has stepped up his recovery from the ankle injury and is partaking in team training this Wednesday:
“Trent Alexander-Arnold and Darwin Nunez both training with the Liverpool squad today?
Still no Joe Gomez.”
