Former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher believes Simon Hooper made the 'correct decision' not to send Ibrahima Konate off in Liverpool's 2-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday afternoon.
The Frenchman was booked just after the half-hour mark for fouling Matheus Cunha and then prohibited the visitors from taking a quick free-kick as he kicked the ball away.
And just seconds before half-time, Hooper penalised Konate once again as he mistimed his aerial duel with Cunha on the edge of Liverpool's box.
But despite awarding Wolves a free-kick, Hooper did not book Konate for a second time, while Arne Slot made the decision to substitute the defender during half-time.
Jarell Quansah came on in his place.
Now, former PGMOL chief Gallagher has praised Hooper's decision - insisting that the Frenchman's attempt to win the ball was not a reckless foul.

Assessing that flashpoint on Sky Sports show, Ref Watch, Gallagher said: "I don't think it's a second yellow card.
He has to challenge for the ball."
