Darren England, the referee who made the monumental VAR decision that saw Luis Diaz accidentally denied a legitimate goal against Tottenham last season, is set to take charge of a match involving the Reds for the first time since that incident.

England, the PGMOL has confirmed, will take charge of Bournemouth vs Liverpool in the huge Premier League clash between the sides on Saturday.



It will be the first time he has refereed Liverpool since May 2023 and only the fifth time he has ever been in the middle for the Reds, though he was fourth official once earlier this season.

Michael Oliver, meanwhile, has been appointed as the man in the middle for the rearranged Merseyside derby.

He will take charge of what is likely to be the final match between Everton and Liverpool at Goodison Park.
