Liverpool knew they’d been in a battle on Sunday as they struggled to see off the threat of West Ham United at Anfield.
The Reds may be just two wins away from securing the Premier League title, but the challenge posed by Graham Potter’s side showed that nothing should be taken for granted.
Despite sitting 17th in the Premier League table, West Ham showed more quality and danger than plenty of supposedly better teams coming to Anfield this season.
A big reason for that was the performance of Mohammed Kudus, who worried Liverpool with his pace, strength and class on the ball.
Kudus has been linked with Liverpool ahead of the summer transfer window as Arne Slot looks to truly put his stamp on the team.
And judging by comments from both Slot and journalist Dominic King following Sunday’s game, it seems that the Ghanaian is a popular figure in the Liverpool dressing room.

After an excellent first season at West Ham in which he scored 14 times, Kudus has found things tougher going in 2024/25, finding the net on just three occasions in all competitions.
Nevertheless, as he showed on Sunday, the 24-year-old has much more to his game than just goals.
He gave the Liverpool defence one of their toughest tests of the season.

And according to King, it was far from being the first time Kudus has made an impression against the Reds.
“Kudus was almost uncontrollable,” said Arne Slot,” King wrote on X after the game.

“He’s been making a big impression on Liverpool’s squad for a long, long time.
“The dressing room was raving about his quality after Ajax played at Anfield in September 2022 and he scored.
Lucas Paqueta outstanding also.”
Slot spoke about Kudus before Liverpool played West Ham at the London Stadium in December.
He is clearly a fan of the former Ajax man having encountered him in the Eredivisie.
And after watching Kudus shine against his team on Sunday, Slot suggested that the Hammers star is good enough to play for Liverpool.
“I can name you one or two players that could have easily played with us today in terms of quality,” said the Liverpool head coach.
“I think [Lucas] Paqueta and Kudus were outstanding today, especially in the second half.”
Paqueta gave a glimpse of what Liverpool have been missing with his creativity from a deeper midfield position, while Kudus was tireless in front of him.
The Brazilian is surely not on Liverpool’s radar despite his class, but it would not be a surprise to hear the Reds are exploring something regarding Kudus.
