It is understood Alexander-Arnold has agreed terms with Real Madrid on a five-year deal.

Although the move has yet to be officially announced, it would see him arrive on a free transfer this summer.

However, Gakpo has now hinted that the England international could follow Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk in extending his stay.

The Reds winger was speaking during Liverpool's title celebrations on Sunday.

Arne Slot's side clinched the Premier League by beating Tottenham 5-1 at Anfield.

Gakpo was amongst the scorers as the hosts came from behind to wrap up top spot in style.

With a commemorative scarf wrapped round his head, the Dutchman explained: "Now with Mo and Virgil staying, and hopefully Trent as well, they can keep building."

Salah and Van Dijk recently penned two-year extensions through to the summer of 2027.

The pair's previous deals had both been set to expire alongside Alexander-Arnold's at the end of the campaign.

Meanwhile, the right-back has remained coy on his own future after making a return from injury last week.

Alexander-Arnold came off the bench to score the winner at Leicester but refused to go into details regarding what lies ahead this summer.

Speaking after the match, he told Sky Sports: "I've said all season I'm not going to speak on my situation.

I'm glad to be part of it."

A move to the Spanish capital would end Alexander-Arnold's 21-year stay at Liverpool.

He first joined the club as a youngster before progressing through their academy and into the first-team.

Since being handed his senior debut by Jurgen Klopp aged 18, he has made 351 appearances for the Reds.

Alexander-Arnold has scored 23 goals and provided 90 assists across those matches.

He has also won nine major trophies following a second Premier League triumph on Sunday.
