Liverpool’s commanding 2-0 victories over Manchester City and Newcastle United have silenced doubts stemming from their earlier 2-2 stumble against Everton, emphatically quelling concerns over their title-race nerve.

The win at the Etihad—their first there in a decade—saw Liverpool extend their league lead to 13 points, showcasing tactical discipline and clinical edge.

While the Villa draw denied them a 10-point gap, recovering from 2-1 down via Alexander-Arnold’s deflected strike demonstrated resilience?

Critics had pointed to the late collapse Everton’s 98th-minute equalizer as pressure cracks, but Slot’s side answered by taking 7 points from 3 tough fixtures.

Arne Slot even acknowledged some of the public perception, saying after the win over Newcastle United that people had been doubting their game:

“After Everton, after Villa and the Wolves game wasn’t easy as well, people started to doubt some things about our game.”

“But we reacted so well against City, and all of a sudden everybody was very positive again.”

“So for all the mental challenges we had, some people questioning us, then everybody really positive, the players just kept calm, and did the things they have to do.”

But it seems that despite the bad blood between Everton and Liverpool, Alexis Mac Allister has still taken some time to help new Everton signing Carlos Alcaraz settle in.

Alcaraz was deadline day signing in the winter window with the Toffees bringing him on loan from Flamengo.

Merseyside reporter Lewis Steele, writing in the Daily Mail’s Liverpool Confidential, has revealed that the Liverpool man is helping Alcaraz having known him from the Argentina set-up:

“Alexis Mac Allister has a new pal in the North West.”

“Carlos Alcaraz, who signed for Everton from Brazilian club Flamengo on deadline day, reached out to his fellow Argentine to help settle into his new home.”

“The pair know each other from the international set-up and have exchanged WhatsApps in the last few weeks with a view to meeting up when schedules allow.”

“South American stars are big into their maté drinks so it’s fair to say one of them will be on the agenda when the pair hang out.”

Alcaraz was coincidently one of the players that was involved in the initial brawl between Curtis Jones and Abdoulaye Doucouré that spilled into the post-match.

And it seems Mac Allister support is helping Alcaraz, as the midfielder has already got three goal contributions in his first seven appearances under David Moyes.
