Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott has opened up about his encounter with jubilant Reds fans at a local Sainsbury's following his dramatic late goal against Paris Saint-Germain.
The 21-year-old had just popped in for some basics, including toilet roll, when he found himself swamped by supporters just days after netting an 87th-minute winner at the Parc Des Princes.
Elliott said that fans were keen to express their gratitude for his vital contribution, coming off the bench to secure last week's 1-0 triumph.
The win puts Liverpool in the driving seat for the Champions League round of 16 return leg at Anfield on Tuesday night.
Reflecting on his post-match interactions, Elliott also disclosed a touching exchange he had with supporters held back in the stands during his warm down.
"It was a great feeling walking back out when the Liverpool fans were still in the stadium," the young midfielder told ex-Manchester United and Wrexham shot-stopper Ben Foster.
It just sums up the fans.
It's a massive club, the fans are so passionate and it makes you want to embrace and experience these moments more."

Despite the thrilling encounter in Paris, Elliott found himself on the bench for Liverpool’s 3-1 victory over Southampton on Saturday.
Liverpool's head coach later conceded that not starting him might have been an oversight.
